Laser (2016)

Interactive installation. Lasers, sensors, electric motors, sound
Laser - a vanished plant, highly valued in ancient Rome. Only our images on coins have reached us. It possessed exceptional properties unknown to us, and served as an analogue of money. Because of this, it was exterminated and ceased to exist.
The development of technologies opens the possibility to restore the disappeared species of plants and animals with a certain amount of artificiality.
In my work, I intentionally reduce the complex geometry of this plant to a conventional line, leaving only one way of interacting with it-a touch.
The choice of such a cautious form of interaction is associated with the early stage of development of biotechnologies, the potential of which is huge.
The red light of lasers reminds of security systems, of the vulnerability and value of the living and the impossibility of protecting the disappeared. The Laser plant has disappeared, like many other species. The red book became a red line and a guard laser for endangered species.
The installation is a representation of the plant in the form of laser lines in an interactive form
